Willow is an aspiring entomologist with a natural explorer’s instinct and an “up for anything” attitude. We love her positive curiosity!
Thank you for generously supporting Willow in this year’s competition. Your participation helps empower the National Wildlife Federation in their mission to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
When it comes to Willow's favorite thing about nature, there's no contest. It's the... INSECTS! When outdoors, Willow can almost always be found turning over rocks, peering in tree holes, and wading through the creek in search of creepy, crawly wildlife. In fact, Willow made a great discovery just today. While not an insect, she found a leopard slug to carefully examine and release. Her curiosity entertains us all and leads her to fascinating discoveries every day!
Willow's favorite animal is the lynx. Not unlike her two cats at home, Willow loves lynxes for their dramatic jumps, sharp teeth, and adorable oversized furry paws. She has the Wild Kratts to thank for her introduction to the lynx, and she hopes for a chance to see one in person someday!
Whether Willow is hiking among grizzlies in Glacier National Park, snorkeling with stingrays on the beaches of St. John, or bird-watching from the backyard at home in Southwest Virginia, she is always ready for adventure and captivated by wildlife. Hiking, canoeing, biking, ziplining, and bird-watching rank among her favorite outdoor activities, but one reigns supreme, and that's "bug-catching!" Nothing delights her more than sharing her passion for insects with her friends.
