What does Wesley love most about nature?

Wesley finds nature peaceful and exciting. He loves witnessing wildlife moments you can't find in a big city, like a wolf pack hunt or watching a newborn fawn grow up. He says one day he wants to live off the grid in the mountains to live amongst lots of animals, teach people about cool creatures and share why it's important to protect the environment. Until then, he raises money for our local nature center by hosting lemonade and cookie stands.

What is Wesley's favorite animal—and why?

Wesley likes mountain goats because they are good climbers who enjoy scrambling on rocks, like him. Mountain goats have rubbery toes the texture of sandpaper, with spaces between each half of their hoof which allow them to grip the rock like a hand. Wesley loves mountains, and this is excellent goat habitat.

What is Wesley's favorite outdoor activity?

Wesley loves exploring on hikes because you never know what animals or nature you'll encounter on the trail. This means our family vacations have required lots of camping trips. Some of his most memorable hikes included a close encounter with a bison in Yellowstone, swimming in a waterfall in Arizona, or finding a herd of bighorn sheep on a narrow mountain trail in Banff. He dreams of exploring all of planet Earth's diverse ecosystems from the trail.
