What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn MoreTheo loves learning about predators and prey the most. He often wants to discuss how life cycles must happen and how although sad, it is just nature. He is very interested in what predators are the biggest, fastest, and strongest. Theo likes to consider which animals, if they were to fight, would win against each other. He often asks questions I cannot answer since many animals do not live near each other. Yesterday he wanted to know if a Grizzly Bear would win against a Gorilla.
Currently, Theo’s favorite animal is a jaguar. He likes the jaguar for its stocky and strong body, and mysterious aura. He will often consider the differences between jaguars and leopards and is quick to correct someone who might be mistaken. He recently learned that jaguars can and will jump into water to hunt crocodiles and he was fascinated by their ability to “adapt”. He is still learning what adaptation is, but it catching on quickly. The jaguar is his favorite big cat by far.
Theo’s favorite outdoor activity is digging for bugs or creating a habitat for bugs. If he is not digging in the ground or chipping away at a tree stump, he is making a home for the worms or insects he has caught. We had 8 empty milk jugs last summer to serve as habitats for all of his creatures. We had moths, butterflies, slugs, worms, caterpillars, and grasshoppers. He loved to provide them with “food” and water, and was sure to recruit an adult to poke holes into the top for air.
