Receive Text UpdatesOliver loves the peaceful calm of nature. As a child with autism, social play with peers can sometimes feel confusing, but in nature he feels at home. Animals don’t expect him to communicate the same way people do, which makes it easier for him to connect and learn. He is endlessly curious about how animals live, what they eat, and their habitats. Even when he can’t always express it, he carries a deep knowledge and love for the natural world.
Oliver’s favorite animal is the black-footed ferret. He loves how smart and curious they are, and how playful and affectionate they can be with one another. He’s fascinated by how they live in prairie habitats and how rare they are. Learning about black-footed ferrets makes him even more excited to explore nature and discover how animals survive and thrive in the wild.
Oliver’s favorite outdoor activity is swimming in lakes and the ocean. The water feels calming and peaceful to him, and being in it helps him relax and enjoy the moment. He also loves exploring as a family and naming the animals we encounter along the way, sharing the facts he knows about them and learning even more about the natural world.
