He doesn’t have a favorite animal, not because he is indecisive, but because his curiosity and empathy are far too vast to be contained by a single species. In his eyes, every living creature possesses a unique “superpower “ that deserves to be recognized and protected. This appreciation fuels his desire to learn about all creatures. Because of this, his knowledge is incredibly broad from the bioluminescence of deep-sea creatures, to the fur patterns of big cats. He loves them all!
For my son, the ultimate outdoor activity is exploring - an unscripted journey into the world, and immersive role-play! By becoming these creatures, my child connects with the environment on a visceral level. Exploring it, while actively participating in it. He can do this for hours! One moment he is a Peregrine Falcon in a full stoop, to a Blue Whale cleaning out their baleen full of krill. This combination reflects the qualities I love most about him, empathy and observation.
