What does Odessa love most about nature?

Odessa loves the beauty and intricacy of nature. She loves recording everything she observes in drawings and sounding out the words to track using written lists. She can be found at the lake or in the mountains wearing her adventure vest, pockets filled with rocks to paint and leaves to feed her pet ladybug, notebook in one hand and walking stick in the other. She loves making crafts using natural materials ie pine cone garlands and floral arrangements using fresh blossoms. Celebrating seasons.

What is Odessa's favorite animal—and why?

Koalas “because they’re cute!” and they also like to climb trees. Odessa has learned not only to climb up trees but to safely climb down. She reminds herself “I can do hard things” when it seems tricky to find footing from a high branch. This mantra has served her well as a little climber and she has yet to meet a climbing tree that she hasn’t scampered up. Her dream is to meet a koala in Australia and also check out the Great Barrier Reef while in the neighborhood:) Aquarium enthusiast as well!

What is Odessa's favorite outdoor activity?

She wants to be a paleontologist when she grows up so she loves to collect rocks and take them into the Live Lab at our dinosaur museum week and ask questions about whether or not her rocks could contain fossils. She’s very interested in geodes and crystals and hopes to find a dinosaur bone one day. We use rocks in our homeschool preschool too. She collected rocks to paint each letter of the alphabet onto so we can use them to spell and blend new words. Birdwatching is in second place:)
