Miles loves searching for creatures under logs and stones, collecting shells by the lake, and fishing in streams and rivers. It makes him feel like he is part of the natural world. He says, “It’s just beautiful out there and there’s a lot of cool things.” He loves being outside, seeing what he can discover, and learning about nature. He believes nature is science, and by learning it, you can help others. His curiosity grows into a deep love and appreciation for all things wild.
Miles said his favorite animal is the harpy eagle because it is a massive bird with talons the size of a grizzly bear’s paw. It can fly incredibly fast and lock onto its prey like a missile on a target, even in the dense rainforest. He loves how powerful it is and how it can glide through the trees and can even catch monkeys in its claws.
Miles says his favorite outdoor activity is fishing. He loves ice fishing, ponds, and lakes, anywhere he can fish. If he can be in or near the water, he is. He loves catching creatures in the water. It’s his favorite in every season. He likes going to fishing expos, meeting fishermen, and is close friends with the owners of his local bait shop. He enjoys learning about fish and techniques and can often identify a catch before others. He also loves camping because it gives him more time to fish.
