She helps restore disappearing native wildlife habitats and corridors, and looks after the certified "Homegrown National Park" spaces she helped start both in her backyard and at school!!! She’s fascinated by animals' adaptations for survival. Metamorphosis leaves her in jaw-dropping awe every time! She enjoys submitting data to scientists via Citizen Science projects! :)
Lucy’s favorite animal is the Eastern Kingsnake! She thinks they’re amazing because they’re resistant to venom from many venomous snakes and are one of the few snakes that actually eat other snakes—including venomous species. She also finds it fascinating that the juveniles look very similar to the adults and that they can grow impressively long. Best of all, she loves spotting them in their yard.
Discovering the diversity of flora and fauna while hiking the Appalachian Trail and Shenandoah National Park through EVERY season, elevation, and kind of weather speaks to Lucy's heart EVERY TIME 💚🫶!!! Lucy is truly my ALL-weather explorer—ready for any adventure, no matter the temperature, conditions, or gear needed (ever since she parted the womb)! 🤣 What she loves most is beautiful and simple: BEING OUTSIDE, FULLY IMMERSED IN THE MAGIC OF MOTHER NATURE!!! 🌿
