Receive Text Updates"I like to learn about new places and the animals that live there." Logan has completed Jr Ranger programs with glaciers of Alaska, geysers of Yellowstone, peaks of the Grand Tetons, caves and mining camps of Kentucky, lush Appalachian Mountains of our home town in North Georgia, and the shores of South Carolina. He was enraptured with the history and ecology of each cite. A core memory was watching a sea turtle lay her eggs and then helping the scientist retrieve an egg for genetic testing.
"I like the wolf the best. We learned about how much Yellowstone National Park changed when humans killed all the wolves. I loved hearing about when they brought the wolves back to the park and how it balanced the food chain out. We got to see three wolves hunting while we were at the park last summer." We were able to observe biologist in Lamar Valley tracking and researching the wolves. This is where he learned to respect the importance of conservation and responsible hunting practices.
Logan's favorite outdoor activity is hiking. He likes it best because we are able to enjoy it in every place we visit. We hike Brasstown Bald in our home town often and enjoy waterfall hikes in the fall and spring. Logan, at 6, hiked more miles in one week at Yellowstone than many adults do in their life. He made the entire Jenny Lake hike to Inspiration Point, an impressive elevation of 7,203 ft, with no complaints. Chipmunk, bison, and bear sightings made the walk even more memorable.
