Kora is so curious about everything and always so eager to learn. She has autism and apraxia and animals were her first friends.
Thank you for generously supporting Kora in this year’s competition. Your participation helps empower the National Wildlife Federation in their mission to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn MoreKora loves watching and learning about different animals and bugs, learning why they do what they do and how they live. She has a little outdoor adventure kit with a magnifying glass, bug catcher cage and butterfly net so she can observe the little critters around our yard. Until she was around 4 1/2 she had almost no verbal skills and kids would be mean and run away but the animals didn't and that has really stuck with her that animals are her friends.
It's always changing as she sees and learns about more critters but her favorite animal at our local zoo are the red pandas, our zoo has a mated pair Wyatt and Wasabi they actually had babies she was very sad they weren't viewable when we went. She thinks when their standing with their arms up to seem big and scary is cute. And how the mothers are so caring for their babies.
She loves building things with sticks or going on little adventures around the yard, she is wanting to make a garden this spring at our new house to grow vegetables for us and flowers for the butterflies. She is afraid of bees but she knows they're very important to the ecosystem and really cares about keeping the outdoors clean for the earths health if she sees someone litter she picks it up and will say that's bad for the earth mom. She's very cute.
