Katy is an avid explorer, with a passion for nature studies; entomology, fungi, bees, birds, and our woodlands. This year, we're focusing on rainforests, forest animals, animal tracks, and various natural energy resources, along with the importance of recycling. Katy treasures the liveliness of nature and the interactions it offers. She delights in wading through our streams, searching for unique rocks, and calling out to Mourning Doves. Katy also enjoys crafting with the treasures she finds.
Katy’s favorite animal is an Eagle.🦅 We have a family of Eagles in our woods, and she is fascinated by their size, and the size of their nest. 🪺 But she says her cats, dogs and hens, are much loved too! Did you know that Eagles flight speed is 30 mph, or, that they can dive at 150 mph? Did you know that a female eagle is 25% larger than a male and their babies are called eaglets? There are 60 species of Eagles in the world and they can all spot a 🐇size animal from 3 miles away!
Katy is an avid swimmer, is on the YMCA swim team, and enjoys gymnastics as well. Her adventurous spirit takes her beyond sports, to camping, hiking, and exploring new adventures. Zoos are her fav, where she interacts with wildlife and captures their beauty in colorful sketches. Katy naturally bonds with animals. You’ll often find her exploring our creek or bounding across our meadows, singing. She loves including others in her joyful escapades, turning every moment into a shared adventure!
