She collects shells along the shore and helps grow maile, a native Hawaiian plant used in lei, on her family farm, learning to mālama ʻāina and carry on her Hawaiian culture.
Kaileʻa’s favorite animal is the koala. She loves their gentle nature and cuteness. Because of her love for them, she traveled all the way to Australia to visit a koala sanctuary and learn how people protect them. Seeing koalas in person made her even more passionate about wildlife and inspired her to help care for animals and the habitats they depend on.
Kaileʻa’s favorite outdoor activity is swimming in the ocean. Growing up on Hawaiʻi Island, the ocean is where she feels happiest and most connected to nature. She loves diving through the waves, feeling the power of the sea, and looking for marine life beneath the surface. Being in the ocean fills her with wonder and reminds her why protecting our oceans and marine animals is so important.
