Jovie loves any and all animals! She pet sits for friends, and is planning how to be a dog walker and vet when she gets older!
Thank you for generously supporting Jovie in this year’s competition. Your participation helps empower the National Wildlife Federation in their mission to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn MoreJovie says she "likes to see all types of animals". In our yard we regularly see deer, raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, and sometimes skunks or possums. She has caught and tried to house a toad in her bedroom (we learned he liked the outdoors better), spent last summer finding monarch caterpillars to put in our butterfly house (we hatched and released over 50 monarchs!), and sets out acorns and walnuts for the squirrels.
Jovie’s favorite animal is a dog, because “they are really cute and fluffy”. We don't have any indoor pets, but Jovie dreams of the day when she can get a dog when she grows up. She loves that “they lick you when they’re happy”. She wants to be both a veterinarian and a pet sitter, and has big plans for her own practice. “When people are waiting, so they’re not bored, they’ll be a show of the dogs acting. I would also take them on little adventures when their parents are going away."
Jovie loves playing "Queens" outside with her sister and neighbor. At the far end of the field across from our house, they have created "Fairy Grove" among some pine trees, trekking across the field to play for hours, sometimes even in snow and wind! She says "we sometimes walk around and chat". Jovie has learned already that being outside is the place for connection!
