Learn MoreThe thing Jackson loves the most about nature is how everything has a purpose. He loves to learn about how plants and animals play an important role in ecosystems. For example, most people don’t love being around bees but Jackson appreciates that they are pollinators and keep plants alive. He also loves that everything is living and is fascinated in the circle of life specifically for animals. He’s always wanting to learn more about nature and loves that he can experience/learn by going outside.
Jackson’s favourite animal is an octopus, specifically the day octopus and the mimic octopus. It started a few years ago when he watched the Secrets of Octopuses docuseries on Disney+. Since then, he has been so fascinated with how intelligent and alien-like they are. It also helps that the day octopus is his favourite colour - red! He loves how they are very good at problem solving, camouflaging and even communicating. He thinks the fact that they squirt ink is obviously pretty cool too!
Jackson’s favourite outdoor activity is pretending he is a jr ranger! He will go on bug hunts in our backyard with his binoculars and sun hat, always in full character. Even on nature walks, he pretends to be a jr ranger looking for living things to show us and teach us about. At this point, he knows more about nature than me! He’s always on the look out for animals and insects to observe, my 5 year old jr ranger has taught me a lot.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Jr. Ranger, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
