Receive Text UpdatesI love nature for its vast wonders and small miracles: the unimaginable bigness of the night sky; the way rivers find the sea; the slow creep of a single banana slug. I love how a geyser erupts from a rock. It's physics: (heat, pressure, force) but also awe and mystery. In wild places I see beauty and struggle, and learn what it means to be free and interconnected.
Banana slugs, ravens, and the octopus! They are each smart in their own way. Slugs teach us patience and persistence. Ravens are incredible problem-solvers, using tools and remembering what they learn. And octopus are clever and curious, able to solve puzzles and even escape tanks@ I love how different they are, but how each shows intelligence in ways we don’t always expect.
I love being in and around water: canoeing, kayaking, swimming, or hiking upstream. I like when the current pushes back and makes it more of an adventure. I like noticing how water and time can reshape everything, even rock; watching wildlife and trying to understand what an animal is thinking or doing; hiking trails through different landscapes; and looking for planets in the night sky, imagining what life might be like there.
