Learn MoreWhen I asked Henry he said “I love that you can be calm and relaxed in nature. But it can also be a big adventure. I really like adventures. My favorite things to do in nature are look at animals and observe the things around me. I like to take notes in my nature notebook. Sometimes I even draw pictures of things in the notebook. It helps me remember things.”
He said “I don’t really have just one. I love to just learn about new ones all the time. I just learned about the Hoatzin. It is a bird and it is a little bizarre. It looks like a little like a peacock without tail feathers. It is unusual because the hatchlings have CRAZY survival skills. They can jump out of the nest to escape danger and then climb back up the tree. Isn’t that wild???”
Henry likes to play all sorts of sports outside. But he says he also likes to explore as a family. He likes to go for hikes, we have nice trails near where we live. When he hikes he likes to look at the wildlife, search for birds, and sometimes we go looking for Geocaches. One of his favorite hikes, is we go on a family hike every year on New Years Day! It is a fun way to start the year outside, even in the snow, wind, or freezing rain!
