Freya lives for the outdoors - hugging trees, befriending critters, whispering to flowers. Meanwhile, Maine says: try again in April!

Learn MoreFreya loves nature because it’s basically the world’s biggest classroom, but with way more squirrels. She delights in the wind in the trees, the glowing moon, and stars she recognizes from her books. She giggles at geese, squirrels, and rabbits (and occasionally tries to chase them down for a friendly hello). What she seems to love most is how much the outdoors teaches us with its wild mix of elements and animals, human and otherwise.
Freya’s top animal is actually the owl (yes, we know it’s a bird, but we’re fully obsessed). Lately she’s been enchanted with them while she makes little “hoo hoo” sounds and insists on watching owl documentaries or cartoons. Then she giggles at their slow head turns and giant blinking eyes. I think she loves how 'strange' and distinct they are. She’s definitely a nature kid, so we even joined Maine Audubon to get outside and explore more of the wild together.
Freya loves riding her tricycle and visiting playgrounds so she can proudly “go down slide.” Last summer she was obsessed with strawberry and flower picking at nearby farms. Her strategy: pick a strawberry, taste-test it (quality control!), then drop it in the basket. It’s hilarious to watch. This summer we might even attempt tiny hikes, because apparently the kid now insists on walking everywhere like a very determined explorer!
