Freddie asks big questions but cares for small things—he’d rather watch a bug than run past it. “Wait, mama” is one his most used quotes. :)

Learn MoreFreddie loves trees and thinks people don’t take care of them enough. He already notices how much cooler it is when there are trees and wishes people would stop cutting them down. He says people don’t understand fungus either. He loves how the air smells when the weather changes, and although he is terrified of tornadoes (even though we live in NJ), he has been fascinated by them for years and hopes to study them one day.
Freddie loves both otters and foxes. He says it’s because they are small and smart. He loves how an otter’s fur changes when it’s wet versus dry, and how it still keeps them warm. He loves foxes because they are the best orange he’s ever seen, and because they’re small and cute. He would also like you to know he is very afraid of moths, but understands how they love the moon like he does.
Freddie’s favorite outdoor activities are simple and underrated. He loves playing under the tree in our front yard—red light green light, tag, and trying to play soccer. We have to move soon, and he’ll be heartbroken to lose that space. In the summer, he goes to Sandy Hook to dig at the water’s edge for mole crabs and jump in the waves. He also loves visiting Turtle Back Zoo to feed the cow-nosed rays.
