What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn MoreFinley’s favorite thing about nature is the beauty of it. When I asked her this question her initial response was “it is just so beautiful.” Getting more in depth with her she explained that it is like a piece of art that she can’t understand so it makes her curious and want to see more. “It is like a piece of art because there are so many different colors, shapes and types. How do they get their colors? Why are the leaves shaped that way and why are there so many different kinds?”
Finley has two favorite animals. Beavers and orangutans. Being the inquisitive child that she is; beavers intrigue her. Of course she thinks they are cute but is fascinated with their “job.” Cutting down trees and building with them. Finley first fell in love with orangutans a couple of years ago on a field trip to the zoo. She really enjoyed watching them play, their coloring and how strong they are. “When I looked in her eyes, I saw kindness and she looked back at me like a friend.”
Finley loves paddling, especially canoeing and rock climbing. She pushes herself outside her comfort zones whether it is heights or dark water. This past summer, Finley learned how to flip a canoe and get it back up. She thought it was awesome and is now hooked! She has almost made it to the top of the rock wall and she is determined to ring that bell! Finley is happy that we live in the mountains where she has the opportunities to grow these passions.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Jr. Ranger, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
