Learn MoreIt has an immediate calming effect for my son. He’s 5, so it’s a little hard for him to vocalize that specifically, but you can just see the difference in him when he’s free to roam and explore outdoors. He is very inquisitive and loves to ask about every plant, bug, or treasure he finds outside.
When asked this questions, his immediate response was Mosasaurus (marine reptile from the Cretaceous period). When I had him clarify for a living creature he said whale shark. He’s learned a lot about them here in Okinawa and seen one at the aquarium, but he’d love to see one in the wild one day. It’s a marine giant like the Mosasaurus, but much less fearsome!
We are lucky enough to live in Okinawa, Japan right now for a few years. He loves to spend time at the beaches looking for hermit crabs, shells, sea glass, sea cucumbers, and any other sea life. Whether it’s a full day affair or just a quick stop along our day, he never says no to the beach and getting his feet in the sand.
