Along with all animals, Elena really loves trees. She knows that not only are trees home to many animals, but also that they are the Earth’s lungs, filtering out pollutants and giving us fresh oxygen to breathe. What’s more important than that? She gets upset when people cut down trees. She also really loves the ocean and all of its marine life, especially Beluga whales. She loves to visit with them at the Mystic Aquarium. If the Octonauts were real, she would happily volunteer to join the crew!
Elena loves lemurs! Ringtails are her favorite; she loves their long, stripey tails! She likes to visit them at both the Bronx Zoo and Lemur Island, her favorite part of the Smithsonian Zoo. The very first time she saw a lemur stuffy at a gift shop, she toddled over to it, and it was love at first sight. She has slept with “Lemur” every night since, and he is still her most prized possession 4 years later! Elena dreams of working with lemurs one day, either as a vet or a zoo feeder.
Elena loves exploring the outdoors. Whether in the backyard, at the beach, or on a mountain trail, Elena loves checking out bugs, leaves, acorns, seaweed, shells, rocks, and pretty much any other small object that she can pick up, touch, and examine up close. When she is out exploring, there’s no where she would rather be!
