What does Eleanor love most about nature?

Ellie loves exploring nature through hand-on experiences, especially when it snows. In warmer weather, she helps her dad work in his beehives and plant our small flower/vegetable garden. She enjoys family hikes and learning bird calls. Her favorite trips from last summer were going to the beach at the Outer Banks, the zoo, and tent camping along Grandpa & Nana's creek. She enjoyed collecting flowers, rocks, and shells, observing jellyfish and horseshoe crabs, and catching ghost crabs.

What is Eleanor's favorite animal—and why?

This animal lover is in her horse phase. Ever the artist, Ellie likes how they can be different colors. "Sometimes they can be dark and their manes are light!" They're gentle creatures and are often very personable. Ellie has also always been drawn to dogs. She and our bernedoodle, Tuxedo, have been inseparable since we got him when Ellie was two years old. Tux sleeps in her bedroom at night. She helps to bathe and feed him, and sometimes walks him when we walk on the trail behind our house.

What is Eleanor's favorite outdoor activity?

Each season has a favorite activity! In winter, it's sledding, building snowmen, and helping Grandpa collect sap to boil over an outdoor fire for maple syrup. In spring, it's splashing in puddles, working the bees, or walking to the neighboring pond to see new ducklings. Summer is for bikes, campfires, swimming in the pool, or day trips to the Bay. Fall means jumping in and collecting colorful leaves. On any day, Ellie loves playing in the back yard with her brother and their neighbor friends.
