Daniel has an insatiable curiosity about nature. Whether water creatures, bugs found in our house, or birds overhead, he is fascinated.
Thank you for generously supporting Daniel in this year’s competition. Your participation helps empower the National Wildlife Federation in their mission to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn MoreDaniel says he “loves all the animals best.” He asks to have “fish, turtles, birds and worms in my house.” He enjoys setting up environments of plants and rocks and food sources to attract wildlife.
Daniel says emphatically his favorite animal is his cat, Onyx, whom he takes good care of. But in the natural world, he favors worms. This summer, he discovered one on the sidewalk and rescued it. He gave it a home in a potted plant on the patio and watched for it to come and go in the soil daily. “I need a book about worms, he told me. We read it again and again.
Daniel’s favorite outdoor activity, of course, is to explore the pond on our property and the surrounding woods. He collects rocks, soil, water, plants and twigs for his own wildlife home. He also enjoys being able to see all the forms of wildlife up close.
