Nature offers him endless opportunities for discovery across animal and plant life and ecosystems, geology, weather and so much more. His absolute favourite thing is how he feels when exploring nature. Asher describes nature as having a calming energy of interconnectedness, consistent across incredible diversity of animals, habitats and environments. It motivates him to observe, understand and discover.
Asher’s favourite animal is a Water Bear, because they are incredibly versatile. They survived mass extinction events, volcanic heat near ocean vents, being frozen, and even being sent in to space. They can slow their metabolism in harsh environments and then subsequently recover! They are amazing!
Asher’s favorite outdoor activity is hiking. He loves being outside, exploring trails, and experiencing nature with his family. On our hikes in Newfoundland last year, he enjoyed discovering new paths, observing wildlife, and sharing the adventure with us. Hiking makes him feel energized, curious, and connected to the natural world, inspiring him to keep exploring and learning.
