What does Angira love most about nature?

To me, nature is filled with wonder, beauty, stories and magic. Nature makes me curious. I can never get enough of those cool facts in Ranger Rick or National Geographic and I love sharing them with my friends. I find funny faces and raging animals in the shapes of clouds in the sky, which makes me laugh. In the evening, I sit on my porch to enjoy the chirping birds, the cool breeze, and the sunset. And when I see the first green dot on a milk weed seed I sowed, I think that’s nothing but magic.

What is Angira's favorite animal—and why?

I admire elephants because they help create and maintain forests and ecosystems. In The Jungle Book, I love how Hathi creates the water hole (water truce) where animals drink in peace. What I love most is their motherly care for family and babies and their tireless effort to keep them safe. I enjoy reading those stories in Ranger Rick and National Geographic. Their giant-like presence, calm and composed movement, fun-loving, playful spirit is what fills me with peace and joy.

What is Angira's favorite outdoor activity?

My favorite outdoor activity is going into the woods, on trails, or simply our backyard and watching birds with my mom by my side. I love identifying them by their vibrant colors, songs, and beautifully crafted nests and sometimes challenge her! I look for fallen or displaced nests and try to place them back safely. It’s fascinating when birds respond as I whistle their calls. Birds are like flying paintings, and I love to draw them while sitting in my backyard, whistling “chickadee dee dee”.
