Learn MoreAbel loves spending so much time there, because he can jump, run, holler, be silly, and most of all, he can “switch off” & choose to lose himself in observation of the inhabitants of nature- he loves that there, he feels no-pressure, no stress or expectations of him short of respecting the land and creatures he may encounter while exploring and observing a slice of rural land- where learning comes easiest for him.
“Insects are always going to be my #1 favorite creatures in all of the animal kingdom, but I recently discovered how much I enjoy learning about snakes indigenous to Oklahoma, so snakes and reptiles are my pick for runners-up favorite.
His favorite outdoor past-time is an activity is relegated to the chunk of year that falls between early spring and late fall - particularly after there has been a good amount of rain over a period of at least a few days so that the nearby cricks and ponds are sufficiently swelled (but not too full!) We love wearing our waders and grabbing our nets and buckets, and fishing for crawdads !
