Zakk says that his favorite thing about nature is how he can learn so much from even the smallest of habitats and animals. No creature is too small to learn about and even the smallest of rocks can hold the greatest of knowledge and stories. Being outdoors brings him a sense of adventure and peace. In a world full of chaos, nature grounds him and lets him find peace and relaxation. He loves any type of adventure outdoors from hikes and 5K races to camping or kayaking.
This is a hard toss up between his two favorite, a newt and a crawdad. Zakk’s overall favorite family of animals tend to be among reptiles and he feels newts are similar enough to lizards and that he can find them most frequently around his home. He loves that they live on land and water. Crawdads however hold a close tie because this was the first animal he questioned and was able to bravely hold. This drove his passion for learning about animals of all species and the way they live.
Zakk’s favorite activity outdoors was his fastest answer with a classic “playin’ in the creek” southern boy answer. He enjoys this most because he loves that you never know what you’ll find no matter what creek or stream you cross. From water snakes, newts, crawdads, turtles, and the creatures that come to the creek for a cool drink, you have many options to learn from those around the creek at all stages of their development. However, if it’s an outdoor activity, count him in on all of them!
