Learn moreWes loves to explore the different habitats of the animals that live in our area. We spend a lot of time on the wetlands of the eastern shore and see all kinds of animals; water snakes, hawks, eagles, oysters and crabs. Seeing what you'll pull up in a crab trap or an eel pot is always fun.
For a bit, it was pill bugs. In the beginning of spring, it was the boxelder beetle-- he collected them and even made a miniature teranium for them out of Legos so they could stay inside one evening. Briefly it was an anglerfish, because of their cool antenna. Then recently it's been the Currently it's our dog, Harley the boxer. They are the absolute best of friends.
Turning over rocks -- digging holes -- poking sticky, sappy things with sticks. Rounding up snails to put into the garden. Any crafts that we can turn into an outdoor activity is a win; tie dying, painting rocks or sun catchers, collecting flowers and lightening bugs. And of course, making s'mores!!
