Receive Text UpdatesWhether scaling mountains, hiking trails, or climbing trees, Warner's favorite place to be is in nature. He has this innate ability to notice the small things that most of us look over. We stop our hikes to find lizards, we put on gloves to save baby birds that have fallen from their nest, or an owl with a hurt wing, or a turtle that has gotten stuck on its back. While the rest of us rush to get to the next thing on the list, Warner takes his time to appreciate the gifts that nature gives us.
This month Warner loves the big cats--lions, tigers, cheetahs, jaguars. He watches videos of them and dreams of real safaris. All of our visits at the zoo end with him sitting outside their exhibits, watching and waiting patiently. That may change next month to hooved animals like rhinos, or the next month to winged creatures, big horned sheep. He wants to grow up to be a veterinarian at the zoo--so it's always hard to ask him to pick a favorite--though he'll talk animals for hours.
Warner's favorite outdoor activity is a good, old fashioned hike. There is nothing he loves more than to lace up his boots, throw on his hat and gaiter, and go on a new adventure. He loves to bring along his belt pack, stocked with binoculars, a compass, magnifying glass, and flashlight. Even moreso, Warner loves to go off the trail, to find new places that the rest of the world hasn't trekked by that day. Then he'll yell out "I see tracks," and off we'll go, over rocks and through creeks.
