It is tough to fit this into 500 characters, but if I had to sum it up in one word, it would be "everything." We do nature walks almost daily, even when it rains. We live close to parks and a large lake, and it seems like we spend our entire summer down there exploring by the lake and asking/answering a thousand questions. For Sutton, nature seems to have an endless amount of new things to see and explore, to learn about, to treasure hunt in, literally lets his mind be free.
Now this is probably the hardest question you could ever ask a kid, so I did. His answer was "birds." Recently, we built a bird feeder for the backyard and he has sat by the window often watching them fly in and eat and fight over the seeds. We also have a small evergreen next to our house that houses a nest of finches. Every day, I have to lift him up to see the babies as they grow. However, he did want me to tell you that he also loves "Akers and KC" our dogs..."but they don't count."
These days, it is bike riding and treasure hunting. He learned to ride his bike earlier this year and spends almost every afternoon riding up and down our sidewalks while my wife and I walk the dogs. We also picked up a metal detector at an auction, and we have had a blast searching for treasures while we are out and about. We have been able to pick up a lot of old junk and recycle it, and he keeps certain "treasures" he finds. It has been a ton of fun.
