What does Sawyer love most about nature?

When asked, Sawyer says that she loves all the different things nature does to take care of us and make our lives better— like helping make air for us to breathe, giving animals a place to live, growing plants and flowers that are beautiful, providing fun things to do together outside with our friends and family, and growing food for us to eat.

What is Sawyer's favorite animal—and why?

Sawyer’s favorite animal seems to change often, but most recently her favorite animal is the giraffe. She loves giraffes because “They are gentle and tall and beautiful. And they have silly tongues!” She loves the giraffes at our local zoo and feeding them lettuce is her favorite zoo experience. Sawyer loves checking out books at the library about giraffes and fellow wild animals, as well as the humans who care for them. She aspires to be an exotic animal vet who works at a zoo.

What is Sawyer's favorite outdoor activity?

Sawyer’s favorite outdoor activity is “Anything to do with water”. Whether it is swimming in a pool, exploring in the creek, or fishing with her dad; Sawyer has always loved water and the outdoors. She loved finding snails, crayfish, and other creatures in the creek at her preschool and was known to bargain with teachers to earn more “creek time”.
