Blueberry picking in the pouring rain solo, catching leeches & minnows and releasing all insects outside. Sampson is a great ambassador!
Thank you for generously supporting Sampson in this year’s competition. Your participation helps empower the National Wildlife Federation in their mission to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn moreSampson loves the peace & wonder he experiences when in nature. He observes aquatic life and insects. Foraging and fishing helps sustain him. Cold water swimming is not for everyone - Sampson enjoys it. He has already been swimming here in Lake Okanagan and shared that it’s ‘surprisingly not that cold’. Also appreciated is a sense of stewardship. Cleaning up a beach has brought a proud smile to his face. Sampson felt driven to share an animal population video he found with many.
Sampsons favourite animal is the peaceful panda. They are striking in appearance and have a similar non-threatening nature to Sampson.
Lake swimming is Sampsons favourite outdoor activity. Spring, summer and fall he is in the water. We have called him our polar bear. He will stay in the water far longer than the other children. After he swims he winds down by standing in waist deep water - seeing what he can see.
