Russell says he really loves bugs & plants. He has taken all of the house plants & moved them into his room, where they now are thriving. He also experiments with planting seeds from fruits & vegetables, & gathers dead heads from flowers to plant. He discovered this on his own & is always delighted when they sprout. He also loves just being outside, hiking, and riding bikes. He often stops to find snakes, frogs, spiders, ants, & so on. Being outdoors is his happy place.
Russell says his absolute favorite animals are frogs. He loves wood frogs, bull frogs, spring peepers, gray tree frogs, poison dart frogs, & Goliath frogs. He likes how they look, how they hop, and how they grow from eggs to tadpoles to froglets to frogs. He's had a tadpole, Ribbity, that he absolutely adored & took very good care of. It brought him much joy to watch him every day & look after. He even helps his dad cut the grass by clearing the yard of all frogs & other living beings.
Russell's absolute favorite outdoor activity is going on bug hunts. He has many bug catchers & cages. He will find an insect & create an entire habitat for the insect inside of his bug cage. He observes the bug with such excitement, then releases it to move on to the next one. He used to do the same with frogs, but since learning their skin is very sensitive, he chooses to only observe them or rescue them from harm. He could hunt for bugs and/or living beings in the great outdoors all day!
