What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn moreReid is fascinated by animals. He enjoys, observing them, learning about their behaviors and sometimes he even pretends to be them. We’d also enjoy exploring his surroundings in nature. Nature provides him a vast playground where he can run climb and discover new things. Perhaps his favorite is a thrill of finding new bugs and interesting plants. Nature offers him a rich environment for learning and playing.
Reid’s favorite animal found in the Virginia Woods is the eastern box turtle. The turtles, dumb shaped shell intrigues him as it is fun to imagine the turtle’s ability to hide inside their shell. The turtle shell also features a beautiful pattern of yellow and orange on a dark background, which is visibly appealing to most kids. The best thing about watching the Eastern box turtle is how slowly he moves. It allows Reid the ability to observe the turtle’s behavior more closely.
Reid enjoys baseball football and basketball. But his favorite outdoor activity is fishing. Fishing offer him a great opportunity to learn about nature, aquatic ecosystems in the importance of conservation. It also helps him develop patients and focus while waiting for a fish to bite fishing, combines fun, learning and family bonding in a beautiful natural setting.
