Priya loves outdoors & learning about wildlife. She opted to protect elephants in lieu of a Girl Scout reward. She names everything.
Thank you for generously supporting Priya in this year’s competition. Your participation helps empower the National Wildlife Federation in their mission to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn moreRight now, Priya loves learning new things about nature but also recognizing things she's already learned about. She loves being surprised by nature too. She was amazed to find out a laughing-like call used in some movies and music as a jungle sound coming seemingly coming from a monkey is actually that of the kookaburra bird she heard at a wildlife conservation ranch. She thought it was so neat she chose a kookaburra for her Girl Scout project.
Priya has a hard time choosing a favorite animal. She says she just loves them all. Right now, she thinks she'd choose penguins because she seemed to have made a penguin friend at the zoo. Then she watched Mr. Popper's Penguins and wished she could have penguins like that. She will also never forget the shared moment with a Tapir at the zoo when it came up to her and smiled. It let her pet it and gave her kisses.
Priya most favorite outdoor activity right now is cave exploration. It all started at Kartchner Caverns. She visited Toughnut Silver Mine in Tombstone and now she's hoping to discover a cave on her own some day. She loves swimming in water, playing in the mud, kayaking and going through outdoor obstacle courses. She loves seeking out animals while outdoors. She hopes to get to see them up close or even touch them.
