Phoenix’s favorite animal is the roseate spoonbill. She loves its bright pink feathers and unique spoon-shaped beak. She first saw one while kayaking near her house on the Caloosahatchee River and thought it looked like a ballerina bird dancing in the water. She loves how they stand out, live in flocks, and find food by sweeping their beaks side to side. To Phoenix, spoonbills are magical, graceful, and a reminder that being different is something beautiful.
