What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn moreI love how nature adapts to change in the ecosystem. The kinds of changes are very cool like how some ancient slower swimming sharks moved into deeper waters to avoid being outcompeted by newer faster sharks. Another one is how octopuses can change colors and textures to blend in to their environment.
My favorite animal is the Argentine Black and White Tegu. I like Tegus because they are fast, have a great sense of smell and hearing, can make their own body heat, are great diggers, they eat lots of food types, and black and white are my favorite colors. Tegus can also stay underwater for 20-30 minutes that’s a long time! I also like how Tegus when scared or in danger can hiss and whip their tails.
My favorite outdoor activity is to catch and release animals and insects. I can learn a lot about animals and insects as I safely catch and see them up close. I can also see if animals need help, like a worm I helped that was almost dried up in the sun and I placed it into the wet garden. I have learned to appreciate and take care of nature by seeing animals in their natural homes and enjoy being where the animals are.
