Miles says plants are so amazing because they are so beautiful, they can create a cushion and shade for us to sit outside, and they can provide shelter and food for animals. He thinks plants are especially cool because they can talk to each other through their roots, and their roots are connected in huge systems, making them giant living organisms.
Snakes, especially the rattlesnake. Snake movement is so unique. Miles loves the rattling sound they make when they are scared or want to give warning—it is beautiful music. The pattern on their scales is a work of art and gives them amazing camouflage. Their ability to see heat is a cool power. We have seen one here on the trail in Colorado, and it taught us to respect their territory.
We live in an urban area, and a lot of outside time is spent in our own backyard! We have a jungle jumparoo and Miles LOVES to bounce. Bouncing is great cardio, but he also loves to climb and swing. When he's up high on the apparatus, he loves looking for birds, especially robins, and seeing if he can spot nests. Biking is another favorite! We often bike to the zoo or the nature scape playground nearby.
