He loves wildlife. It’s all that he prefers to talk about from the moment he learned to speak. It still dominates our play, outings, discussions. Nearly 95% of his toys are wildlife figurines. Everyday he insists we read about at least 3 animals from an encyclopedia, Wildlife Explorer (1000+ pgs), which was gifted to him. He loves the outdoors too perhaps b/c when steps into nature, he steps into a world where he’s free to be himself, roam, and explore. No pressure nor worries about acceptance.
The flamingo is at the top of this list. He’s a part of their flock. His first love confession was uttered to his flamingo plush. He admires their vibrant hue. But, he may also respond, “Everything.” Insects. Mammals. Reptiles. Birds. Amphibians. Sea. Wild. Domesticated. Extinct. He loves them all. He’s gentle and respectful of animals during encounters. And he can identify a magnitude of wildlife. Now, he’s intent on learning the life cycle of wildlife & plants.
Exploring. A day at the beach lasts from dawn to dusk searching for sea creatures & investigating tide pools. He loves hiking on a trail at our local park collecting plants & observing wildlife. A trip to the park often turns to an adventure on the hiking trails instead of playing on swings or slides. Because he gravitates towards nature. And, at his behest, we visit the zoo, aquarium, farms, wildlife rescue center, butterfly garden, or museum at least 2-3x monthly despite rain or snow.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Jr. Ranger, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
