Maxwell loves outdoor adventures-nature walks, learning new facts, looking for wildlife clues, exploring how wildlife interact with nature.
Thank you for generously supporting Maxwell in this year’s competition. Your participation helps empower the National Wildlife Federation in their mission to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn moreMaxwell loves everything about nature! He loves how nature provides and consumes from each other, including where humans fit in. Maxwell loves to think about how animals from different habitats might interact if they ever met (e.g., an anaconda and a kangaroo). Maxwell also loves to consider how different animals within the same species possess different skills or vulnerable (e.g., a green sea turtle vs a leatherback).
Maxwell’s favorite animal is the green sea turtle because it is gentle, primarily a herbivore, and yet is able to defend itself against predators like sharks with its large, hard shell. Maxwell loves knowing the sea turtles return to their birthplace to lay their eggs when the time comes. And he absolutely loves hatchlings and their journey to the ocean.
Maxwell loves going for nature walks during which we pretend we’re in a certain habitat and Imagine the animals we might encounter there. He’s imaginative and enjoys pretending we see various animal tracks or “hints” that an animal might be closely. For example, we imagine seeing salamanders or footprints from a fennec fox.
