When I ask my son what he wants to do, he typically replies “let’s look for bugs.”.

What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn moreMateo is fascinated animals. When he was 2 years old we saw a ladybug while we were walking in the center of our city and it caused such an impression that he remembered the exact place. For the next few months we had to stop and look for the ladybug. We have a spider that made a web between the glass and the screen in our dining room window. Before I could trap and show our friend out so I can clean the web, he named it Spidey and he checks on him throughout the day wondering what he’s up to.
Mateo’s favorite animal is the giraffe because it is so tall and uses its long neck to reach the leaves on the trees. He says that giraffes look very funny when they drink water.
Mateo’s favorite outdoor activity is looking for bugs and other animals when we go on walks. He likes to stop and admire any animal he sees and he asks questions to find out what it eats, where it sleeps, and he always wonders where its family is.
