Madeline said that being outside can feel like when your friends talk to you when you’re sad or frustrated, being in nature just makes you happy! She loves to play in lakes and rivers, and remembered a time we were on a trip rowing our raft and paddle boarding on a lake in Arizona. She helped keep Lake Pleasant clean that day by finding a lost ball & taking it out. Instead of playing with the ball, she wanted to go out to find more trash and lost toys. And we did while the wild burros watched!
A lion! She says a male lion is the best because he has the sharp claws and the loudest roar. And the females are the best because they do all the hunting, but they also are nice and give their cubs the best “spit baths”.
Madeline loves a great list of outdoor things and rattled them off when I asked this question of her, among them were: finding animals, drawing the plants we find, doing science, and hiking in the mountains. She said her favorite thing of all is to ride her bike in the mountain so fast that the cold air blows on her face.
