What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn moreLuke loves observing how animals, plants, and their environments interact. He finds interest in learning how these things can support and hinder one another. He is fascinated by the unique evolution and adaptation of living things in order to survive.
Luke’s favorite animal is the horseshoe crab. He finds it fascinating that these animals have blue blood that is used to create a reagent to test medications for bacteria. He loves that this animal has been able to survive for hundreds of millions of years due to its ability to adapt.
Luke’s favorite outdoor activity is building habitats for bugs and other animals. After finding a mother bird nesting on her eggs inside our garden hose storage, Luke made a bird feeder so that the mother bird did not need to travel too far away from her eggs. Luke gathered bird seed and hunted for worms to put in the bird feeder. He also moved a pot of marigolds nearby so the bird could enjoy the beautiful flowers. He often considers the basic needs for living things with compassion.
