In her words, “nature is beautiful.” Liliana’s curiosity inspires my blog Rooted in the Virginia Piedmont, where I share ways to engage kids with nature and support local conservation. She’s an old soul who loves being on camera and teaching others what she knows. She’s even asked to start her own video blog, “Lili’s World” — mom’s not quite ready for that yet!
Her answer changes often — she finds something to love about nearly every animal. Lately, she’s been especially fond of butterflies after learning about oviparity. She’s fascinated by their life cycle, diversity, food sources, and how we can support their populations through gardening and land stewardship.
Liliana loves taking walks on our 25-acre forested property. We explore trails, identify plants and animals, spot signs of wildlife, forage a bit, and tend to our vegetable garden. Her favorite part is “getting lost” in the woods — pretending we live in the wilderness and discovering something new each time.
