Liam is a gregarious and inquisitive second grader. He enjoys all things outdoors, and he would be an enthusiastic, cooperative Jr. Ranger!!
Thank you for generously supporting Liam in this year’s competition. Your participation helps empower the National Wildlife Federation in their mission to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
What is Jr. Ranger?
Learn moreLiam’s favorite thing about nature is how ecosystems seek balance on their own. This is why he is concerned about the imbalance caused by invasive species. He is not a fan of the emerald ash borer, woolly adelgid, or the spotted lanternfly. These are just a few of the invaders creating a negative impact on his home turf.
Liam’s favorite animal is the basilisk lizard because it can run on the surface of water. He loves that this adaptation helps this species catch prey and escape predators. It’s also just an incredible feat of nature to witness!
Liam’s favorite outdoor activities include camping, skiing, building forts under the hemlocks, searching for aquatic insects, fishing (especially ice fishing), kayaking, harvesting leeks in the spring, hunting, building fires, and adventuring/hiking while looking for organisms and treasures. He also loves to snorkel swim in our local streams. He is on the prowl for a hellbender sighting this summer!
