Leo loves to go outside with goals - finding a certain type of bug, frog, snake, fish, etc., with the eagerness to observe it, learn all he can about it by asking by questions/leaning on the internet, and adding a new discovery to his growing collection of experiences! He gets so excited and giddy when becoming one with creatures around him!
Frogs - he is fascinated by the dynamic growth process from a tadpole to a frog, and amazed that such a unique creature can be so commonly found and observed right in our backyard!
Collecting bugs for his terrarium! He has created a whole ecosystem of several types of bugs, complete with soil, moisture, food, and “forts” (pinecones). He loves driving his jeep to different spots in the yard, digging, catching with his net or his bare hands, and simply collecting / caring for insects. He has now rallied several of his neighbors friends to accompany him - he is the leader of the bug squad! He teaches his peers to delicately care for creatures great and small :)
