Start Their AdventureIn her own words, Kennedy loves seeing trees and birds and woodpeckers. As her mom, I see that Kennedy can explore a small patch of backyard for hours. There is so much to see! Tiny insects, the way the wind moves the grass or ripples the water on a small puddle, a unique pebble all hold so much wonder. I hope her curiosity for our natural world only grows as she does.
In her words, Kennedy’s favorite animal is the giraffe because they are tall and live in Africa. She likes that they can reach so high on trees to eat leaves. She enjoys visiting the giraffe ambassadors at the Brookfield Zoo where her aunt is a zookeeper.
Kennedy loves exploring. Her favorite place to visit is a swampy area called the Heron County Boardwalk. There she has seen Sandhill cranes, bald eagles, all sorts of waterfowl, snakes, turtles, fish and even a beaver. No matter the season, there is always something to explore. In winter, the water freezes over and when snow blankets the ground, she finds animals tracks. In spring, her binoculars help her spot migratory waterfowl. Summer is hot, but there are always frogs and turtles everywhere!
