Every thought in JJ’s mind is about nature, animals, and survival. Eating wild onions, making fire, and planning to live in the wild is him.

Nature is exhilarating to JJ. He says he loves that you can never know exactly what’s going to happen, but you can plan and nature provides. He says he loves that everything tastes better in nature, fresh from the wild. He loves nurturing plants and taking care of animals. When asked why he replied, “It feels good to my heart.”
“My favorite animals are lizards, because they remind me of creatures that are extinct and prehistoric. They have really unique features, like gecko’s eyes. They can’t blink and have to lick them. I also like that it is very hard to catch them and they are so fast.” JJ is a lizard expert! He loves to catch and care for them and knows how to gauge their comfort levels. It is an amazing sight to behold. It is not uncommon to find him walking around with a lizard calmly resting on his shoulder.
JJ loves to construct using primitive materials. His only 7th birthday request was the Swiss Army knife he takes outside to cut and carve wood into tools for his future life in the wild (his greatest dream). A path in our yard leads to the teepee he put together using sticks with his brother. He recently gathered materials to make a viable fire and wouldn’t let us rest until we went to supervise its use. The amazing list of items he has made using only sticks and simple materials could go on.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Jr. Ranger, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
