My child would choose wandering through nature in rain, sun, or snow any day. She loves to be in nature and is constantly learning about it.

Learn moreShe loves being outdoors in any setting, whether we are in the forest surrounded by trees to climb, on the beach finding treasures in the sand or water, or in the mountains exploring. She will stop wherever she is to observe a new bug or a family of deer or collecting walking sticks or looking up a species of bird. Or maybe just at home trying to save an ant hill from being stepped on in the sidewalk, on her way home from school. She is full sensory in nature with seeing and hearing and feeling.
Her favorite animals are cats. She knows that they are much smarter than they put on. She loves that they are able to be fierce and gentle. She also loves the way they move whether they are big lions or leopards or house cats. We love to watch how they twist their bodies and how they pounce. We often visit the local zoos and the many cats are always first on our list to pay a visit to. If she could, Islay would hold a cat sanctuary for wild and domestic alike.
Islay loves to climb trees and explore the many insects that live in them. She loves to learn what different insects are and what they do. Finding and learning about earthworms has been her latest favorite, as they help give nutrition to the earth soil, and they have no eyes or nose but know when predators are around. She will often be seen saving earthworms stranded on the sidewalks after a heavy rain. It takes her much longer to walk to school on those days.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Jr. Ranger, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
