Receive Text UpdatesHyrum has always had a soft spot for wildlife. He’s fascinated with how even the smallest creature is vital to the ecosystem. He asks questions such as, “what would happen if such and such creature wasn’t here?” And “What animals would suffer?” Often times he asks us to pull over when driving to look at birds, antelope, deer or other animals that he spots in the hills.
Hyrum’s favorite animal is the wolf. He loves the history of the wolf getting domesticated to become a dog. He feels they are so smart to hunt in packs and eat a wide range of animals. He has been so excited by the dire wolf being brought back out of extinction.
Hyrum says his favorite outdoor activity is exploring. We live out in the country in Wyoming and he roams around the hills, finding insects, keeping track of birds in his bird book, playing in water and pocketing interesting rocks. When we go to the mountains, he will explore the forest, looking for animals, cool sticks and climbing tall trees.
